It's possible she did know what it was or that he had it, she just had never looked at their bills before and thus didn't know what the description was pertaining to. At least, that's what I like to hope...
The worst still has to have been the father that called because his son, WHO HAD RUN AWAY FROM HOME, had used their shared card to purchase the membership when he was still living with them. The father wasn't upset that the son had bought it, but when we found out the son hadn't looked at it for months, it gave the father less hope that his son was even still alive. That was a very hard phone call to take. It shook me up afterwards. I didn't know what to say to him except good luck and I hope you find your son. How sad.
