Sep. 10th, 2007 11:36 pmI should be re-writing my artist's statement and adding some things to my resume for that bullshit class tomorrow (Professional Activities Seminar, or as a friend and I like to call it, Pretentious Asshole Seminar. I apologize if I've mentioned that before, I can't remember the last time I was here.)
It's finally cooler outside, which is nothing less than divine. I have a solo show at the Union in November. It's about New Orleans and will be a sort of installation with painting, photo, sculpture, and stencil. I've been working on the downtown mural (Aaron Douglas Mural Project) quite a bit and it's really fun. My photo class is interesting (it's about different processes) but I've come to a debilitating realization, one that I think I knew but had purposefully ignored: I can't absorb technical information. This makes it hard to be a photographer, this going on instinct. This is why I could never teach a class. I learn something, and it immediately begins to fog over, oddly enough like exposed paper. Sucks, but I will deal with it and if I need to teach while in grad school, I'm comfortable with painting.
Ah fuck it, I should be working.
