I have to transfer all of my stuff from my old computer to my new one.

Poop. Why can't it just magically happen?

Someone have any info on the best way to do this? What about my old mail?

I had to transfer files to a new hard drive, and there is a way to just copy the entire contents of your old drive onto the new, formatted one. But uh, I don't remember how. BIOS?

Yeah. I'm helpful.

THERE IS A WAY TO DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS

you can probably network them together with a serial cable, and then just pass the files that way. the hardest part is the actual networking. if they both have the same operating system, it probably won't be as bad. what are each of them running?
if they have different OSs, and you hate a computers, and you really hate windows, it's really gonna suck.

the only other ways to do it are:
tape backups (only if each PC has a tape drive, which isn't likely)
backup to a CD (only if the computer you're taking stuff from has a CDR)
backup to floppy (long, lots of floppies, big pain in the ass)

what kinds of things are you wanting to move? music, pics, documents, etc? or programs and crap?
email me if you want. prince_of_dysfunction@hotmail.com

If you're computers have ethernet capabilities you can create a network with ethernet cables. I did that for my computers recently, plus I've got an ethernet hub which not only links them together, but uplinks them both to the DSL.

Gimme a call if you want.

Oh yeah, "hi"
