I will not pretend that I'm not a material girl...yes, living in a material world. I had a good day. I needed a good day. I spent money I shouldn't have, but what is new? I ducked out of work early, after arriving later than I should have in the first place, so that I could meet a friend at the Beverly Center for some light(GAH! Cat on keyboard!) shop, shop, shop-eeeng! Actually, I just wanted to pay my Express bill, use my coupon at Bath and Body Works, and pick up a book from Brentano's(my former place of employment).

I get to zee bookstore, at it's new, smaller location (which is actually much nicer) and find a copy of The Hobbit, as I'd meant to start reading it months ago. They only had a QP, so I ended up paying $12.00 for it. But when I want something, I want something and there you go. So Youn
g, a former manager of mine, was working and she stopped and looked at me with recognition. I smiled and said, "Jill." She said, "I know...the weirdest thing. Two people have called for you recently." I was amused and taken aback and she said one was Keith, an old manager/friend who now works in the Century City store. He wanted my file so that he could go over it. Two months after I asked him for part-time employment. Yeah, Keith, on the ball as usual. The other was some guy who didn't even know my last name. Odd. Very odd. He wanted to know how to get in touch with me. O_o Anyway, Catty shows up and we head downstairs only to find that Express and Bath and Body Works are not where they used to be. We go to where they supposedly have been moved to, and no dice, not open. Instead we get coffee at the new Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (because I refuse to buy from fucking Starbucks) and as I'm waiting for my Chai latte (it's been so long since I'd had one...*drool*) I head into Aveda to check out the price on a scent I like. I find another scent I like, but didn't even look at the price because I was so covered in perfume that I didn't realize I like it. I will be an idiot tomorrow and purchase it. Go me.

You are highly entertained, no? Thought so.

I ask Catty if she would like to catch a movie. Catty is a fairly butch lesbeathean so I entice her with, and this is for you Vodka..."it has lesbians in it." So we head to the Sunset 5 to catch "Kissing Jessica Stein" which I had been wanting to see. We have about an hour to kill before the movie, so naturally, we go into Virgin. BAD IDEA. aaaaOOOOOGa! aaaaOOOOGa! Je suis un RETARD. I dropped $60 in there. SIXTY MOTHER-FOOKIN' DOLLAS! I am not even sure if I can afford that! I...think...it will be okay...but...awwww fuck it, I got fabulous music:

The Faint: Danse Macabre
Eleni Mandell: Snakebite
Saint-Germain des Prés Café (fucking stellar electro-jazz comp...really great)
and a FANTASTICALMAGNIFICENT 2-disc compilation called Ultra.Chilled.
You can see how cool I am here.

GOODGAWDAMN I LOVE MUSIC. ^.^

So yes, the movie was excellent, put me in a very "new york" mood. Very cute, very touching, very funny...good. I drove home, fast, up Laurel Canyon with my electro-jazz comp pushing me around curves. C'est magnifique!

So this entry was meant to be more deep and prolific, but I'm allowed to be a superficial consumer whore on occasion so, bite me. Please?

Oh, and I got a small package from my Mom upon my arrival home. Let me detail what was in it...just for kicks. HEY! WAKE UP!

-2 water guns (one is sparkly purple, bonus)
-2 Elizabeth Arden lipsticks (Desired and Amber)
-a plastic holder for a razor (for trips I assume)
-a baggie with 5 plastic Easter eggs
-a Crunch bar and chocolate-covered raisins (I swear, I lose weight and she starts sending me junk food! Gragh!)
-3 packages of hair repair (needed!)
-more eyeliner (asked for, thank you Mom :)
-some Mary Kay brochures...yes, she sells it. :p
-a cat toy for Boo-monster
-a little Elizabeth Arden kit with lip cream, mirror, and brush
-a Sharpie
-one of those freebie day planner things that stores give out as promotions
-some Blistex
-and the Coup d' Etat.....*drum roll*...A CERAMIC NUN!

My Mother is cerifiably nuts. Rock out. She didn't even know I like nuns. She's just scared for my soul! HAHAHAHAHA! I don't know why I like nuns, by the way. They're sexy, they wear black, they're "taken", I read a great book called The Love Letter by Madeline L'Engle when I was young...pick one. But nuns own. That was so wrong, I'm going to stop writing now. I have a great picture of me as a nun one Halloween. I'll have to scan it.

Now I am going to finish Citizen Kane, take it back to Blockbuster (more fun with driving late at night, good music, and dangerous hills and curves...Heeeeee) and come home and HOPEFULLY....write.

Tomorrow had better kick some serious ass-ass.

1:20am: Yes, and NEVERMIND that "retard" in French means late. pfffbbllttt!
2:33am: Guess I won't be buying that perfume...it's $46. eep.

Your mom is cool just because she has imagination. I mean, for her to go out and mail you stuff like water guns because they might make you happy means that she is trying to think from your point of view. That's cool. Wish all moms could try to do that.

My mother always use to send me cool packages like that. I remember the first gift I received from her after I moved out was a membership to, 'Beers Across America'. I got a 12 pack of cool International brew ha ha's every month, for a half a year. That was a great thing to get when you is po- at least you know you could get faced ONCE a month.

I like to match my scent with my mood and clothes too. heheheh. I have some delicious French perfume from New Oleans, my Eastern sandalwood, my Herrera for Men, and some essenses that I mix (mostly honeysuckle and jasmine). I am seriously thinking about that Aveda scent though. But $46?!

Yeah it worked! :)
