"The more I look, the more I find
As I close on in, I get so blind
I feel it in my head, I feel it in my toes
I feel it in my sex, that's the place it goes"
--from "Digging In The Dirt" by Peter Gabriel

If all emotion rests in the head, not the heart, then why do we feel it in the heart...why do I sometimes feel pain, as Peter Gabriel says, "in my sex"...literally, when I think about certain offenses. Could I condition myself (if I had a few hundred years) to feel it in, say, my spleen? Could the seat of human emotion be switched to your bladder? Wouldn't that mess up Valentine's Day. I PEE ON YOU BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, don't you UNDERSTAND?!

I just find it so odd, that logically...I know it's all my brain. It's all about that grey matter baby. But I could swear to you that I feel it in my chest. I could think about a certain something right now and it would be centered, almost painfully, physically, in my sex. We've all felt our heart, most literally, swell or feel like it's being ripped in half. Mind over matter works both ways I guess...vvverrry eenteresteeng, those conditioned connections.

Not that this is entirely along the same lines, but I need to read Phantoms In The Brain again...without having to rush through it

We feel pain in the heart because, generally the person that broke it, has pushed a big pointed wooden steak straight thru the middle of our chests.

Those damn pointy things hurt.

heheh...sometimes repeatedly...because sometimes your brain goes out to lunch, and you let them.
