What we are, that being what we perceive ourselves to be as well as how we see other people react to us, pushes us toward a certain thing that could be defined as fate. However, fate implies a more specific end than I mean, though I do mean a very limited vicinity.
At the same time, I think it's escapable on rare occasion-- rare enough that I probably won't ever know anybody who has done it. To redefine one's self is not something people readily do.
