Sara,

1. I thought I remember you saying you are going back to Kansas for the Holidays. If I'm on crack, please disregard #2.

2. Have you purchased your plane ticket?

3. How much did your moving van cost?

NOT GONNA CRY. So eat my ass.

Should my brain be tingling?

Yep, I'm going back to Kans-ASS for Christmas. Will you be there? *crosses fingers* I have in fact purchased my plane ticket. I got it through Hotwire for $211 (includes taxes and all those other charges). Tickets are generally pretty expensive when flying to and from Denver, but it shouldn't be so bad from L.A. to K.C. *crosses toes*

As far as the moving van, it came to $625. This included insurance and mileage. I actually went over by 100 miles because we took the southern route to avoid getting snowed in when going through the Rockies, but the guy I returned the truck to waived the extra charges. I also had to put a $100 or $200 deposit on top of the cost of the truck, but it's refunded when you turn it in. I booked the truck through Budget/Ryder (www.yellowtruck.com). It was several hundred cheaper than U-Haul or Public Storage.

Note: the cost was for the truck only as I drove my car myself rather than getting a hitch - you may want to consider doing that as the cost of gas was cheaper than renting the hitch - if you can get someone to drive with you. *volunteers* (Maybe you can get Staci to help you half-way and then I can meet up and help the rest of the way...) Also, the total cost for my move was around $850-1000. This included two nights stay at Motel 6 ($80) plus food and gas. The truck took about $100 in gas and my car was $45.

Let me know if you have any other questions - as well as if you are in KS for the holidays. I'd love to see you.

Yeah, I think I'm going the Southern route as well. I've never gone the Northern route, but I do enjoy going through the Southwest...it's just when you hit Texas that it starts to turn to shit.
Yeah, I think it was $1,200.00 to move out here..heh, but I didn't pay for it. :} Hmm..I guess I should get someone to go with me and drive my car then. Poop. I kinda wanted to do it by myself again. Ah well. What are you doing around January 17th? :}

Looks like I'll be here for the holidays though.
Weh.

If you do go the southern route, be sure to tell them when you order the truck - they should give you extra mileage allowance since it's longer. If you want to avoid Texas, you can come up I-25 (catch it in New Mexico) to I-70 and stop by to visit me. *grin* My mom keeps telling me to let you know that you are welcome to stay over here. But yeah, I know, then you'd hit the hell that is western KS.

When you moved to CA, did you tow your car behind you? I did and it cost us around $1000 plus gas/food/lodging. You end up having to get a larger truck in order for it have towing capacity.

As far the 17th...at the moment I'm completely free in my schedule but hopefully I'll be employed again by then. Otherwise, I'd be happy to help (or see about getting time off to help). Just let me know. :)

oooOOO
