My friend Dana and I took an hour walk on the nature trail near my house. It was lovely, lush and green. You know, nature. Saw a box turtle nesting, deer tracks, raccoon tracks, crossed the creek many times, and talked the entire time. Cloudy, rain clouds moving in, yet humid, as per usual.
Came home and found five ticks on myself. Not the expected one or two, but FIVE. Bastards. Now every little thing I feel on my skin is a tick and I now know where all my "beauty marks" are.

YAY summer.

I had more here, but fuck it.
Pics later maybe.
Tomorrow, garage sale. Have to get up early.

Damn! I've been through brush in shorts a million times here in Cali, and never had a tick on me. What is it with Kansas?

Sounds like it was worth it, though.

Did you count your beauty marks?

It was worth it, but I don't know how many times I want to do that. Having to "de-tick" every time I take a walk through there doesn't sound very appealing. We're going to try another trail next time. :D

No, I did not count them. I am riddled with tiny brown cancerous moleys! There's a neat little one on my left asscheek though. AWW YEAH.

p.s. Kansas sucks (except maybe Lawrence).

Hurrah for asscheek beauty marks! I have a slightly protruding little mole on my waist. It's been there longer than I can remember.

The only friend from Kansas I ever had before you was from Lawrence. It sounded like a decent city. Bill Burroughs retired there, settled in and wrote about his cats before he died.

I just found the 6th tick. YAAHOOO! ;} Nasty little bitches.

Yes he did. :D I was lucky enough to see his art exhibit at the Spencer Museum on campus and attend the Nova Convention (Burroughs, Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Michael Stipe, and Patti Smith) It was coo'. His spoken word is rather entertaining. I keep meaning to pick up a CD of it.

Hot damn! Are you going for 7? I walked around in the bush [snicker] all day, and got no ticks. I did get one HARD bite to the love handle though, fucking insects. I guess I know that'll happen when I take my shirt off in their turf.

Nice! Nova Convention. With a lineup like that, I'd have been thrilled. I got to see the Burroughs exhibit at LACMA, but that was it. I love his spoken word stuff. One of my radio shows was named for a line from one of his routines: "The All-Purpose Nuclear Bedtime Story." The all-purpose bedtime story, in fact. I'll have to think of it shortly and pass out. SPLAT.

Well, none today, so I think we're done. I...I almost miss them. YAR HAR HAR.

Yeah, the boyfriend at the time didn't really appreciate the lineup, but I made him go.

I think they should change the motto on the Kansas(s) license plate to read:

---------------------
KANSAS
XXX 000
Bush full of ticks
---------------------

I got my license plate today and there IS no motto?! WTF? Just a stupid picture of the capitol building. Jerks. I like the wheat better.

Ha ha! Kansas is the NOTHING state.

Or maybe it's anonymous, like the state where the Simpsons live in Springfield.

State motto: More than just wheat?!

I was telling someone else, who suggested that Canada be renamed with an exclamation point (Canada!) that Kansas should be, "Kansas?"

You win. Now paint that on your shiny new plates.
