and why would a box lie to a person?

So yeah, Dawn of the Dead (the re-make, that is)....

10 points for using a Richard Cheese song!
20 points for pacing.
30 for cool-ass zombies.
15 for looking like 28 Days Later, but being a better movie altogether.
5 for nifty opening titles.
10 for not wussing out with a happy ending.
5 for creative use of end-credits and time.
-5 for the baby.

You get an A!

I'll admit, I fell asleep when watching the original(not until toward the end, but still). I do love what George Romero has done, but Dawn just fell short for me. I think I actually like this one better.

I met Ian after work yesterday and we went to meet up with his friends, Ryan and Josh. Then we all went to see Dawn of the Dead. After the movie, we came back, Josh left, so Ryan, Ian, and I went out for a drink at the Jazzhaus. It's nice that Ian's friends are all pretty damn cool...or that he even has friends at all (*coughRyancough*). After that, we went for some nice middle eastern food.
Then we left, went back to K.C., picked up some mustard and/or ketchupand wine, went home, put on some Portishead, did it like monkeys, and cuddled until sleepytime.

A good evening.

Aw, I love the original Dawn of the Dead. It looks cheap, and it has aged a bit, but it's really amusing. I'm a little worried about the new one, but I want to see it.

It was the blue faces. I'm not scared of asphyxiated mall zombies. I've worked retail.
:D

I went into this one not expecting much, expecting glossy, over-the-top fluff...which it was, for the most part. But it was also really well done. The social commentary wasn't glaring you in the face, but on the whole, I think that was a good thing. It was there, and this one was done really well, in my opinion. And as a relative newbie to the zombie flick, it's a modest opinion at that.

I'll admit my appreciation of the original Dawn of the Dead is partly sentimental. (Yes, I guess that means I'm sentimental about zombies. I also like puppies.) The "mall zombie" stuff was pretty novel for its time, and I enjoy its sense of humor. I don't think it was ever all that scary to me, though.

my first nanny was a zombie

Mm, yes, doing it like monkeys = good.

So, how long have you been torturing monkeys?
