But you know what pisses me off...when you find the exact apartment you want.... Perfect. 2 bedroom. HUGE. Big kitchen. Laundry. Great location, near campus. Really big kitchen, a balcony, and parking.

And they hand you this 4-5 fucking page lease to sign. In it, are the most asinine rules I've seen since my first apartment in L.A.

-If you have a wooden balcony, no barbeques.
-Landlord can enter at any "reasonable" hour It details nothing about HAVING to call first, though I'd hope they would. It also says they can enter to simply inspect the apartment.
-No hooks in the ceiling, no holes larger than a small nail. And damn near everything done has to be cleared with the property management people. Even, say, if you have someone come in and say...clean the carpet. At your own expense.

Glad I haven't signed it yet.

Oddly enough, it's the BBQ thing that really cheeses me.
I'm going to go discuss it with them tomorrow.

i dunno. the wood balcony/no bbq thing makes sense to me. not everyone is smart. like those people in chicago who pile 400 people onto a balcony, and then threaten to sue the management when it collapses and people die.

I guess I just take offense to 2 pages of rules that treat me like a retarded delinquent. ;) I think I'll be looking for something else. 5 pages leases give me the "bad vibes".
