Since the nerds here at LJ seem to think you must pay or have ads on your journal to post a poll, we'll do this the old timey way....

I'm severely limited in classes to take this Summer. So far I only have Directed Readings (requirement for the major). I need to take a studio class. There are no sculpture classes in the Summer, so my options are:

-Intaglio I (with 2 professors I find....alienating) OR
-repeat Painting IV (which means I'll probably work on my own things)

Pros and cons....I can work on my own things anyway and it would be good to learn a new medium. BUT, a new medium would also clutter my already cluttered mind and I have no BURNING desire to learn intaglio. Oh, and it's every day, for three hours.

There's always Elementary French II, but that's every day (in the morning), so fuck that noise. And conveniently enough, no Brit Lit that fulfills my Minor. Yay.

Yeah, I realize this is rather boring, but sometimes it helps to think about these things in text.

Fall '07 Schedule:

ART 540 - Professional Activities Seminar
PNTG 568 - Special Topics in Painting: Photo-Sensitive Processes
SCUL 354 - Sculpture II
ART 300 - Special Topics in Art: Political Posters
ABDS 303 - Photography III (Video)

What's the con of repeating Painting IV? Other than repetition, of course.

Not really a con, just...I don't know. If I'm paying for a class, I should take something I haven't had.

I think I'm going to see if I can do Directed Studies II and complete my NOLA piece for credit.

All very interesting, I'm sure.

An independent study sounds the way to go. You do your own thing (which you would have anyway), get credit, no repetition, and perhaps learn something new if you get the right professor.

Intaglio I sounds like a bad idea, the way you've described it. I'd go for the other, if it presents no serious cons.

Yeah, I'm thinking so too.

It's unfortunate. Intaglio is a great and subtle medium and as an illustrator, I think you'd really like it but sketchy teachers and long hours would put me off it as well.

Sounds like a fun schedule.
weh
I wanna go back to school.

Maybe I'll take it next Spring, just for the funs.

You should. I'm pretty excited about it, even though it means ALL my classes will be in one building and I'll most likely hate art by the end of it.

No can do. I would need to find a VERY versatile part time job. I have been looking for months and submission deadlines end in 6 days.
Not this year.
