Porkchops and applesauce
Dec. 16th, 2001 06:39 pmI'm almost glad I'm poor this holiday season. I can't really afford to buy presents, and I'm glad I don't have to shop. NEVER GO TO TARGET 2 WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. It was a mad sea of obnoxious kids and inconsiderate people. I gave some change to a guy who needed gas money (supposedly) and he looked at my meager offering like, "That's it?" What the hell, even people in need are becoming greedy bastards. I had to tell him, "Sorry, I'm using my card inside, that's all I have." Should have known that was just the beginning. Damn, I just needed some kitty litter. Poo. People suck....they're rude and they suck.
But, I did get Frodo finally. I think I have enough (10) of the Lord of the Rings toys from Burger King to make the nativity scene. I have all the major characters, so now I just need to set it all up, make a manger for Baby F.
I'm halfway done reading Harry Potter, and I'm proud of myself for liking it. See, it's hard for me to like things that are really popular sometimes. And I had someone, whose opinion I respected, tell me why they really hate those books. I thought I was going to as well, but I don't. I'm really enjoying it. My theory about the book's popularity is not that J.K. Rowling made a pact with the devil...though I guess that could still be true. Heheh. But that they are popular for the same reason old Disney movies are popular and still hold magic for kids and adults alike. No one wants to believe that they are normal...it's a release of a sort. I also enjoy long walks on the beach and stating the obvious.
I bought 2 more fish (Bettas). Yes, I love how in one entry I can talk about how I'm poor but yet buy pets. Priorities baby, I ain't got none. I bought a really deep red Betta who looks like a drop of blood. I was going to name him "Sang" which is French for "blood", but now it's either "Jeunet" or "Hedwig" (more from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" than from Harry Potter). The other feesh is teal and dark and light blue. I swear he glows. Whenever he expands and contracts his tail it really looks like he's glowing from the inside. S'very pretty. His name will be either "Hedwig" or "Jeunet" as well. I had them named, but I'm thinking of switching.
I'm boring myself and I have a headache.

Date: 2001-12-16 10:47 pm (UTC)There aren't Lord of the Rings toys at the Burger Kings around here, but there are light up (?!) plastic goblets with character's portraits molded in them. I wonder what Tolkein would think, knowing that impressions of his characters were being sold at fast food restaurants.
Why do I get made fun of for liking Fiona Apple?
They're glass!
Date: 2001-12-17 01:31 pm (UTC)Every time I read that last sentence I read: "Why do I get made fun of for looking like Fiona Apple?" Heheh.
I'm now thinking about naming my feesh "Scout" and "Jem". :)
i had a teacher who named her goldfish scout & jem
Date: 2001-12-17 02:17 pm (UTC)I always liked Calpurnia in that novel.
