I love it when I've forgotten about a song I heard and liked, then I discover it on an old CMJ disc.

:D

Wow, July 2001 was a good month:

CMJ is how I first discovered that song by Space.

Puffy Amiyumi -- They are one of the japanese bands I named the other night.

I love The Incredible Moses Leroy. They (it's not a guy by the name of moses) are from San Diego. I've seen them live twice now.

Yes, it was an awesome month. I need to subscribe to CMJ so bad...and I need to subscribe to Mojo!!! But then again, I have so many magazines that I have bought that I need to catch up on. Not as many as you...you win ;)

I absolutely adored Space when they first came out. I have two singles of "Dark Clouds" because they had different remixes. I even danced to "Female of the Species" onstage once, in a bikini...but I won't go into that. It was awhile ago though. I need to dig out some Space and listen to it again.

I thought Puffy Amiyumi sounded familiar. :)

I really like The Incredible Moses Leroy as well, from what I've heard...which is only about 3 or 4 songs, but they were all excellent. Urgh. See, I've never been much of a concert-goer because I'm a materialistic person, I'd rather spend the money on the CD, and right now, that's all I can afford. My theory on concerts was that I could get the same experience sitting at home and getting lost in the music with my headphones, but now, that's just how I feel about big venues. I'd love to go out more to smaller concerts. That rather intimate Travis set I saw was absolutely brilliant. They were really good live. But yeah, I need to go to more concerts. It's bothered me that I miss the people I want to see all the time. Like Eleni Mandell, I think I've missed her 4 times now. If I wasn't so busy with one job, I could look for a second. :(

I only have 3 magazine subscriptions, CMJ, Jane, and Movieline. CMJ was completely worth it. I had to subscribe because I quit at the bookstore and could no longer take the cds home.

And those magazines piled up, I've read most of them...those are just there because I have a hard time parting with them. That, and I like to make collages...don't laugh. :}

You do know that you ARE going to tell me the story of jumping on stage in a bikini at some point, don't you? I'm going to hypnotize it out of you.

The Incredible Moses Leroy CD called "Infinite Pocket Radio" is absolutely incredible. I'm going to have to play stuff from it for you. I've seen them in concert twice, but unfortunately the lead singer (and main person of the group) just stands there and isn't very animate. The shows could be SO much better if he played his guitar for every song. I don't know....but I will go see them again!

My theory on concerts is that sometimes you CAN NOT get the same experience at home on headphones. I have had so many "religious" experiences seeing bands live. Then again I have seen SO many. I could talk forever about the bands I've seen...but that's my life.

A fucking fabulous magazine! (http://www.cmj.com/)

XD

The subscription's pretty expensive, but that's because each issue comes with a CD.

GAK!!!

I LOVE amiyumi!

I love that song, too! It's on one of my many burned Jpop cds. (yes, I listen to Jpop...sue me)

they drop the puffy in japan, and just go by amiyumi...so any other songs of theirs are hard to find.

I've also been very capslocky today.

You know...and I'm serious...I have always thought that when the low voice comes in on "Radio #1" by Air, it would have been incredible if they would have gotten Ringo Starr to sing it. The guys voice sounds so close to Ringo's.
