The red car in front of me was apparently "powered by Mexican". Unless it was literally powered by chopped up Mexicans, I think that person should die a horrible firey death. I kid, mild discomfort in the anal region would suffice.

I have seen more NRA and American flag stickers on cars in the past two weeks than I have in my entire lifetime. I'm moving to Europe.

I'm a pretty jealous person. I wish that were not true.

I have no problem with the flag, as I can be pretty patriotic when pushed to it. I just hate the fake or overzealous patriotism post 9-11. That, and I hate the NRA. :)

I completely agree with you about the NRA.

About the flags. On September 12th, I had no problem with people waving flags and honking their horns, etc. Then a few weeks later, on every street corner you'd see some person selling all sizes of flags from their cars on street corners. It became a fad...much like Elmo and Cabbage Patch Kids. It was very much like it was the "cool" thing to do. I never did it. But, then months later people have replaced the flags with stickers, and the american flag has become a staple of the marketing industry.

It's shit like this that makes me sick. I took this picture in a Home Depot near my apartment 2 months ago.

Sorry patriotism isn't cutting-edge enough for you.

But I seem to remember a time when you and I, on a message board long ago and far away, were the only ones raising the flag, so to speak.

So I get pissed off at fake displays, over-zealous attitudes, and just generally not thinking ahead, you don't?

And as the one who was getting pissed at everyone else who was ready to jump ship, no, I don't think I'd leave America for something like that.

please don't move to europe. i used to think that was my solution, and i even dream about living in denmark now and then, but america is pretty fucking cool sometimes, and living in europe is not as great as it seems. everything's closed on sunday! how the fuck am i supposed to eat? sorry, i'm still bitter.
