Do you plan on printing out a lot of pictures? If so, I'd recommend getting a camera that saves in .tiff files. Olympus has a few. You might want to check out ZDNet if you haven't already. I've been meaning to buy a camera for a while, but I got sidetracked by some synthy goodness in February. Heh.

I only have experience with "Yet Another", and have been completely satisfied with everything it can do. Pretty effin' awesome.

It should be between the Olympus, Sony & Nikon.

I did a buttload of digital camera research a few months ago, so excuse my long post. I want to speeeeeeeak.

As far as digital cameras are concered, I like Olympus. The Camedia series are really cool, but the C-700 is a little older and though it does have the cool-ass 10x optical zoom, the image quality isn't as good as the others.

The Sony one is cool and easy to use, my friend Greg has that one. The image quality on it is really good, and the camera itself is a comfortably small size. The only problem is those damn memory sticks are really expensive and it only comes with an 8mb one. I noticed that it's kind of slow between, and sometimes before, shots, which is pretty frustrating at times.

The Nikon one is probably the best in terms of image quality and control, but they are notorious for being a lot more confusing menu-wise than the other brands. I think this one would deliver the best pictures once you figure out how to configure the options and shit to your liking. It's VERSATILE! But confusing.

wow

Thank you boddah! :D

Hmm. Well, I do want some control. If I'm going to spend that much money, I want some of the features of a nice manual camera, as I can't afford to buy both. Why don't you go look at Gateway's site and tell me what you think the best options are for cameras under $525 are. Pleeeeease? I only put up those because they are the only ones in stock. :(

p.s. If I had to choose between these, I was leaning toward the Epson. Do you know anything about it? I read some reviews and they were all pretty positive. It comes with a 16MB memory card, which is good.

The epson one is really good if you want a digital camera just to upload/print digital images, like a lot of people. But it has really complicated and confusing manual features. It's a very nice, easy to use camera, but if what you want is a digital camera that can be similarly adjusted like a manual it's probably one of the more difficult ones. Really the only downside would be the manual problem, everything else is great. And it's not the the manual features aren't there, it's just that you have to really work with the camera, and you'll have to read the HUGE book it comes with.

Wow, boddah...you really DID do some research. :D

Hmmm...if that's the only downside, then maybe...hmmm. I think I should go and actually look at them rather than trying to do this all online. Sometimes, if it feels nice in your hands, that could be the deciding factor. This is a general rule that applies to MANY THINGS. XD HAAAAAAAAAhahaha!
woowoo!

I know! :D I am rather fond of the Olympus as it was the first REAL manual I had (the one that was stolen from my dorm room freshman year). But the only one they have in stock is 2.1 megapixel. :( If I'm going to spend that much money, I want at least 3, 3.3. Maybe I should go look at Best Buy and start a card there. The only reason I'm going Gateway is because I have an account there. Hmmmmm....I shall think aboot it. :)
