May. 10th, 2002 03:13 pmOh man...I hate those calls.
A woman called to cancel just now and wanted to know what this service was. I told her it was an "online men's magazine" like we usually do, and then she said she needed to cancel because her husband has died. BAM. Never expect that.
He was a member since 1998.
I hope, if I ever get married, that nothing has to be hidden from me like that, especially for that long.
Wow....she didn't even sound that old....that makes me sad...

Date: 2002-05-10 03:51 pm (UTC)That's something new in the world with OUR generation.
Granted---not everybody possesses it, but a lot more do than in the past.
"Online Men's Magazine". That's almost like the "girl's toys" and the "boy's toys" on the Target website. But, I guess you can't just describe it as online T&A to unsuspecting callers :)

Date: 2002-05-10 08:13 pm (UTC)The worst still has to have been the father that called because his son, WHO HAD RUN AWAY FROM HOME, had used their shared card to purchase the membership when he was still living with them. The father wasn't upset that the son had bought it, but when we found out the son hadn't looked at it for months, it gave the father less hope that his son was even still alive. That was a very hard phone call to take. It shook me up afterwards. I didn't know what to say to him except good luck and I hope you find your son. How sad.
