Doing my part...to SAVE YOUR LOUSY ASS!
Nov. 6th, 2001 10:54 pmI's a whiny bitch, yo.
Werd.
Today was actually a good, productive day. SHUT UP! NO! I know, I know. S'true. (wait, someone's at the door....O_o....dern CO-WORKERS.)
WHY am I more coherent and productive when I've had less than 5 hours sleep?! HMMM? I'm sure I'll crash in 3 hours, but I've got me Code Red to keep me company.
The day just seems to start out better with coffee. No more pop for me in the morning, s'coffee all the way baby. I still want some warm, freshly baked sourdough. But I just had some nice tomato soup. It was goooood. So much better than ramen. Funny how I HATE tomatoes but love tomato soup. Texture I guess. I don't like to eat fleshy fruit and I don't like to eat things that look like they looked when they were alive....yeah, that made complete sense to me.
So I got home at about 4:00am this morning(Tuesday) after working all day because the damn 405 N exit was closed. I didn't really know the streets after it, so I just took the 10 all the way down to PCH. Santa Monica is not close to Valley Village. So I had to go down PCH looking for Sunset....alas, I kept missing it. I ended up driving along the coast almost to Pacific Palisades. Go me. For the first time, just being NEXT to the ocean scared me. As many of you know, I have one MAJOR phobia, and that is fear of water I can't see through. (God I hate it when people type "thru". It's so...."McDonald's Drive-Thru") Well, the fog was pretty heavy this morning (hello marine layer) so you couldn't really SEE the ocean...just sand leading to NOTHINGNESS. I honestly got a little freaked out and had to drive in the farthest lane from the ocean. It really seemed like it would just suck me in. Then, as I'm a big fan of punishing myself, I started thinking....wow, I could just drive off the road and into the ocean....yeah, that made me feel all warm inside. Anyway, I turned around, found Ocean and then Arizona and Wilshire. I took Wilshire all the way down through Santa Monica to Hollywood. (there is not a soul out in Santa Monica at 3:30am.) I went that way because I had to go by the old apartment to get the number from the sign out front. It's been over a month now and we haven't received our deposit back, all $1850.00. After that, I drove by the new Hollywood and Highland complex (new home of the Oscars) and really wished I still lived in Hollyweird. :( I took the 101 home and realized I had traversed much of the city in less than an hour. I need to get a job where I just drive around during the wee hours of the night/morning. It's so nice. The cool air, the radio, the silence outside, the moist air, the smell of autumn.
So then I went to sleep until 9am, got up, and went to skoo. Classes were good. I actually stood up and asked for people to sign the Clean Energy Now letters. (and I didn't get nervous as I usually do. I actually enjoyed it, made me miss being in charge of something, if not my life. ;) After my classes, I went to meet with Kate about my internship (if you can call it that, as I haven't even looked into making it official. It's more of a glorified volunteering. I don't mind though, I want to help and that's the point.) We talked and things are going well for the campaign which will all come to a head next Wednesday at the Board's final meeting on this issue. It's going to be great! Greenpeace is bringing the solar truck down from SF. :D I even got a bright orange Clean Energy Now shirt today so that tomorrow, when we go to the Board of Trustee meeting downtown, we'll look all official. It feels so good to actually be doing something. I felt so useless before. Then, after my meeting with Kate, we had the main meeting for the entire group. Kate had to leave early, so she handed the meeting over to me. That was cool, but it seemed odd. I just went through what was coming up and handed out information. College kiddies are so hard to speak to sometimes. ;)
After the meeting, I went home and finally had sumthin' to eat then called PacBell about our DSL. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with a techie who knew just about as much as I did, but I sympathized so he was okay. Then I called our previous management company about our deposit. They were extremely apologetic and thought that the deposit had been mailed out. They actually called back while I was asleep and apologized some more. Hmm, maybe we'll get all the money back? Heh, pff...we'll see. So I think I slept for about an hour because I kept having dreams that I woke up late and missed what I was supposed to do before work. Alas, I got up on time, and went to Kate's office on Santa Monica for an hour and a half of phonebanking. It was cool. I think I got at least 2 people to show up for the meeting tomorrow (which we're carpooling to and I'm driving. :) Again, it feels good to get results. One of the people I called thought I said "Green Peas" and started cracking up. Heheh. (Visualize Whirled Peas, eh?)
So now, here I am, at work until 7am, feelin' okay with my Code Red and my Cherry Mash that Sara brought me back from good ol' Kanass. (not to mention the vintage porn she brought me! I got "Venus in Furs" in b/w and a DVD of old 1930's porn! yeeeeah!) Now all I need is a DVD player. :p
I still can't pay my bills, but at least no checks are going to bounce. (PacBell, the Gas Company, and my Visa card will just have to wait, and/or charge me a late fee. Poo on them.)
Bitter Betty is in a good mood. I'm sure that'll change tomorra. ;)
12:09am: I've stepped back in TIME! (heheh, they're working on the servers and it's set the signups back to 11/6...I love the techie kids. Also, I am the FASTEST TEST-SIGNUP PERSON IN THA WEST, yo.
12:31am: p.p.s. Part of my good mood is related to the fact that I've lost weight. :)
