9pm: It is absolutely DISGUSTING how much money I just spent. I'm feeling a little sick, but I'm still happy that I bought it. I'm not going to be telling my parents how much I spent. In fact, I won't be telling anyone, most likely. I'm am completely irresponsible and it feels goooooood, if not a little woozy-making. SECOND JOB BABY!
Bad thing about this is, if I take photography soon, which I'll probably have to if I stick with Art as my major, I'll have to buy a decent SLR too. Fuck you, I'm smart.</i

ooooo, I so shouldn't do this. But I just think, if you're gonna go, go big. I won't be able to afford getting a nice digital AND an SLR right now, so I might as well get a kickass digital. Plus, I talked to someone here at work who LOVES this camera and I've seen her work. Ugh...I hate making big purchases when I'm still in debt. But I so want this.

That's it. If I do buy this, I'm getting a second job.

Hey...do you know how big a 3.3 megapixel picture really is? I'll send you an example if you are interested. It may be just big enough for you instead of taking pictures and creating billboards!!

Megapixel refers to the resolution, doesn't it? The higher the megapixel, the better the image resolution, not image size. That is why I decided to just go with the 5, as more and more 6mp are coming out.

Oh...and I just got back from buying it. I sick with guilt, but hot damn if it isn't cool.

The only things I've read about that one that might be considered negative are the whole memory sticks aren't big enough issue, and some people think the shape is awkward when switching shots. Fuck em'. Them things are negligable because everything else about that camera is awesome.

Though I do love Olympus, this camera is pretty damn rad...and the only other digital I've used was a Sony, so...

I used to have an Olympus, and I loved that camera. A below-average model, but I loved it nonetheless. Then I bought a Canon, and that was okay. THEN I bought a cheap throwaway Kodak for $50, and that thing served me very fucking well, actually. Most of my pictures on my site were taken with it, and once you get past the fact that the flash was insane - AND the fact that it was, admittedly, a cheap-ass camera - it didn't do too badly.

I swear by this Minolta. Once I figure out how to use it, I'll love it even more. It was only $300 - one of the cheaper models available in all brands - but I'm happy with it for now. I expect that I'll upgrade in a few years, but for the moment I'm satisfied.

That said, you just can't beat Sony when it comes to electronics. And since a digital camera is electronic, well . . .

I mean, I know there are people who would argue, but I've tried them *all* and Sony is just unbeatable. Quality, versatility, features, DURABILITY. Across the board, Sony rocks my everlovin' ass.

So.

If I ever WERE to buy a digital camera, yours would be the one I would get.

One of the reasons I won't buy a digital camera, aside from the fact that I prefer film for the kind of pictures I take, is because the cheap ones suck. To get one that does the sort of work that I know digital is capable of, I'd have to shell out the bucks that you just did, or more (I have no idea what you paid, but I'm guessing it had to be A LOT) and I'm just not willing to do that when I prefer film anyway. Can you imagine the gear I could purchase for $1500? (That's what I would have to spend on a digital camera right now to be happy.)

BUT. If I were to buy digital (honestly, I wouldn't mind having one for throwaway pics and instant gratification), I would definitely go Sony anything.
